Is 30" monitor not supported?

Update:11-30Source: network consolidation

I have my MacBook Pro connected to a 30" Apple LCD display.
iMovie 8 works on my MacBook Pro fine. When I connect to the external display, though, it locks up while trying to boot up and crashes.
Anyone know of any known (or unknown) issues?
Thanks

* I'd spend the $100 more for double the vram and a much better performing graphic card.
* The GT120 works in 2008 and later, the ATI works in all Mac Pro models.
A "Macpro2,1" is 2007 with EFI32 and 32-bit kernel and can't use GTX 285, quadro or.... GT 120
GT120 barely shows in most any benchmark comparisons.
OpenCL benchmarks under Snow Leopard
GPU Shootout on Mac Pro Nehalem - round 2
nVidia GTX 285 Mac Pro (Pro Apps)
- takes some 'read between the lines' and depends on your needs, budget, what apps you use the most.
Final Cut Pro X can run on a Mac without an OpenCL compatible graphics card
- to give an idea, instead of Motion in realtime, it is more like 2.5:1 with the stock OEM 7300GT or X1900 (not sure from the news item what card was used in 2006 Mac pro).
